Activity around
the Schuylkill and Delaware rivers, Wissahickon Creek and Fairmount Park
was a focus of this annotated portfolio of engravings, published in 1873.
Individual images from the Picturesque America series are frequently
found for sale on Internet auction sites such as E-Bay. I received a complete,
if disbound, copy of the portfolio's Volume 25, about Philadelphia, from
Michael Brown, a Philadelphia book dealer. To him, its condition made
it basically worthless; for me, it was perfect, since it made the images
easier to scan. The colored engraving of "Schuylkill River from below
South Street" was purchased separately.
