Philadelphia Water Department
Library Catalogue

For the past five years the Philadelphia Water Department, with several volunteers under my supervision, has been cataloguing the holdings of its historical collection, using PastPerfect museum software. In 2007 the mainstay of these volunteers, Joseph Shapiro (with help from Lou Brownholtz), recently completed inputting the published books in the collection. To date we have catalogued more than 1,500 volumes, including hundreds of annual reports published by PWD and other city agencies, publications related to the city's water and sewer system, and a collection of 19th and early 20th century textbooks used by the engineers who designed the city's infrastructure.

You can download the latest PDF of this library catalogue (created July 15, 2008) by clicking here. Be forewarned that while the PDF is relatively small (373 kb), it is 209 pages long. As with previous versionsof this catalogue, Google will gobble up the contents of this PDF as it has gobbled up everything else on Philly H2O, which will then then make its entries available to the world in this indirect way.

Please note that the publications listed are not available for interlibrary loans, but for on-site researchers only.
