1884 Reports of the Harbor Police for the
Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers

SCHUYLKILL REPORT

DELAWARE REPORT

These reports consitute an annual crime log for the city's riverfront, at a time when the Port of Philadelphia was one of the largest and busiest in the world. While parts of the report might be considered quaint, the entires are at the same time almost eerily modern, since there is little originality in crime, only perhaps an updating of the weapons used in its commission.

Both reports came from the PWD Historical Collection, Cat. # 2004.058.0010, a compilation of city reports from 1884 to which the title page is missing.
